At its heart is the flagship AKM AK4191EQ digital processor paired with the renowned AK4499EXEQ DAC, delivering exceptional resolution with support for PCM up to 768kHz/32-bit and Native DSD512 playback. A fully balanced analogue preamplifier stage with precision R-2R resistor ladder volume control preserves dynamics and detail at every listening level, making the DMP-A8 Master Edition Gen 2 equally at home feeding a power amplifier or active loudspeakers.

The new Gen2 platform features a powerful 64-bit octa-core processor, 8GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, providing dramatically faster library indexing, smoother navigation and responsive operation, even with collections containing hundreds of thousands of tracks. An all-new 8.6-inch high-resolution touchscreen delivers an elegant interface with customisable VU meters, spectrum analysers and intuitive music management.

Supporting virtually every modern music source, the DMP-A8 Master Edition Gen2 offers native playback of PCM up to 768kHz/32-bit and DSD512, while integrating popular streaming platforms including TIDAL, Qobuz, Amazon Music, Deezer, Apple Music, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect and Qobuz Connect. It also supports DLNA/UPnP playback, internet radio and extensive local library management.

Connectivity is equally comprehensive. Balanced XLR and RCA analogue inputs allow connection of traditional source components, while optical, coaxial, HDMI ARC and USB inputs accommodate televisions, CD transports and computers. Digital outputs include USB Audio, AES/EBU, I²S, optical and coaxial, allowing the DMP-A8 Gen2 to perform as a high-performance digital transport for external DACs. A dedicated subwoofer output with adjustable crossover enables seamless integration into stereo systems.

Network performance has also been enhanced with Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6 and the addition of an SFP fibre network connection, helping minimise electrical interference while providing maximum flexibility for demanding installations.
