Active shutter eyewear produces high definition cinema-quality 3D at home
Panasonic uses full-HD frame sequential technology to create high-quality 3DTV. Images recorded in 1920 x 1080 pixels for both the right-eye and the left-eye alternately flash on the screen at the ultra-high rate of 120 frames per second. When you view the screen through active shutter glasses that open and close each lens in sync with the alternating images, you experience incredible 3D pictures with realistic depth and outstanding high resolution.
Passive versus Active
Many cinemas use passive 3D technology and this is beginning to make an appearance in home theatre systems. Unfortunately passive is simply not going to provide a quality full HD experience on your 3DTV. With passive technology, the resolution is reduced to half, with visible vertical lines and jagged edges becoming very obvious on the screen. Crosstalk, or ghosting around the edges, is common and it is impossible to retain picture integrity when viewing from extreme angles. The active shutter method is the only way to experience flawless full high definition 3DTV. It allows all pixels to enter the left and right eye, eliminating crosstalk and producing the highest image quality from any angle in the room.
High quality, lightweight and easy to recharge
Making the lenses thinner and simplifying the structure reduced the weight by about 40% compared with our previous model.* The new line-up offers three head sizes (S, M, L) to ensure a comfortable fit for everyone. Each one also lets you adjust the size of the nose bridge and the distance between the eyes, so they fit you with maximum comfort. Simply connect the 3D Eyewear to the USB terminal of a USB-compatible VIErA HDTV or Blu-ray Disc™ player to recharge the 3D Eyewear battery.
